On 13 May 2026, the LUMENS consortium gathered in Brussels for its first Internal Steering Committee (I SC) Meeting, marking an important milestone in the project's journey towards accelerating the deployment of utility-scale renewable energy across Europe.
Representatives from all partner organisations — including CIRCE, CLERENS, EDP R&D, ELES, Engreen, ERG, HEnEx, IOS-PIB, and White Research — came together to take stock of progress achieved since the project's launch in October 2025 and to align on the path ahead.
The meeting provided a full overview of all active Work Packages. On the management side, the consortium confirmed that core project activities are progressing as planned, with pre-financing successfully distributed to all partners. Encouragingly, the LUMENS Collaborative Network has already surpassed its initial target, bringing together 34 members from across the renewable energy ecosystem — from developers and system operators to policymakers, financial actors, and civil society.
Thematic sessions covered the project's main research areas: stakeholder engagement and use case definition, grid integration challenges, feasibility analysis of utility-scale plants, financial and regulatory frameworks, and the development of the open-source LUMENS toolkit. Dissemination and communication activities were also reviewed, with strong progress reported.
The I SC Meeting set a solid foundation for the consortium's work in the months ahead. LUMENS remains on track to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions that make large-scale renewables more competitive and better integrated into Europe's energy future.
