The energy transition was at the heart of conversations at KEY – The Energy Transition Expo, where LUMENS consortium partner ERG took the opportunity to present the project to an international audience of energy professionals and policymakers.
During the session, Francesco Peccianti (ERG) and Simone Paolacci (Engreen) introduced LUMENS, framing it against the broader context of Europe's energy challenges. In a complex geopolitical landscape, the continued dependence on fossil fuels remains a critical vulnerability for the European energy system, making the accelerated deployment of renewables and electrification more urgent than ever.
The presentation outlined how LUMENS aims to support the integration and market acceptance of large-scale renewable energy across Europe, tackling key barriers such as grid flexibility, plant efficiency, and the financial, social and environmental dimensions of project development.

A particular focus was placed on the open-source tools the project is developing, covering location planning, hybridisation modelling, social and environmental impact analysis, and market revenue simulations — practical resources designed to support decision-makers at every stage of RES project development.
Central to the LUMENS approach is active stakeholder engagement, bringing together industry players, institutions, local communities and policymakers to co-develop solutions that can make renewable energy deployment faster, more competitive, and more sustainable.
The Expo provided a valuable platform to raise awareness of the project and spark new connections ahead of the work ahead.
